Industry Info to Know – 06.12.20 Roundup

By Greg LaBrie |   Jun 12, 2020

We're all in IT together.

People nationwide are starting to return to work with some version of familiar normalcy emerging as states open up their economies. Work as we know it has forever changed, though, and some companies are proving to be well equipped for the future while others are still struggling with how to adapt and effectively plan for what's next. Flexible, scalable systems proved to be a saving grace for business continuity, but what else is needed should a mandatory quarantine happen again? While there is a second wave of COVID-19 predicted, it is more critical than ever for executives and IT leaders to reflect on how their business responded—what worked and what didn't—and develop long-term strategies to get ahead of potential supply chain delays and hardware scarcity scenarios.

Industry Info to Know – 05.22.20 Roundup

Whatever you need, we’ll make it work.

Times they are a-changing! The dust may be settling a bit as companies are adjusting to a distributed enterprise, which takes on a whole new meaning from what we knew three months prior. IT leaders are reflecting on the quick decisions that were made and are starting to develop strategies beyond a temporary pivot. Business leaders had their business continuity strategies tested and are finding out just how resilient their business is. Business is moving, and sure it looks a little different than how it did a short time ago, but IT resiliency is now the topic of discussion.

Given the changes impacting security, connectivity, scaling virtual infrastructure, supporting a remote workforce, shifting to the cloud, navigating supply chain constraints (the list goes on), IT leaders are looking to the future for next gen technologies with steadfast requirements of flexibility, agility, efficiency, and as you will see in this week's theme of the blog post—resiliency.

Critical Scenarios to Consider for your Backup Strategy

By Greg LaBrie |   Jan 24, 2020

WEI often works with clients in both areas of backup and disaster recovery at the same time. We find it’s often beneficial for them to be part of a single strategy since the function of backup and DR relates so closely together (recovering from some sort of event). They do have slightly different goals, however. With backup, you might be looking at a smaller data loss, such as accidental deletion or corruption of files.

What’s Your Multicloud Strategy?

By Greg LaBrie |   Dec 06, 2018

Have you found an answer to the big question circling across the IT world—How can we create a cloud-like delivery model for our users? The answer is within “digital transformation,” which focuses on efficiently leveraging cloud computing and software defined capabilities (among many other next-gen tech solutions) to be more flexible, agile, and scalable to meet business needs quickly. There are also many opportunities being created within areas like machine learning and IoT that can skyrocket your company's ability to innovate. In order to achieve these things, a flexible and reliable IT infrastructure is a must. Deploying a multicloud strategy creates that reliability while also adding a sophisticated degree of versatility.

Extending vSphere to the Public cloud

By Mark Gabryjelski |   Aug 02, 2018

VMware’s vSphere, the composition of vCenter and its ESXi hosts used to run workloads and containers, has experienced dominance in the IT landscape. There has been talk for years about extending a vSphere environment into the world of public cloud and not being required to run all of this separately through other means. There are many ways to achieve a cloud strategy, and fortunately, VMware accomplishes all of this with vSphere. This post focuses on one of the ways to achieve this type of public cloud strategy with VMware Cloud, which offers VMware on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is a full SDDC (Software Defined Data Center) offering covering compute, storage, and networking capabilities.
